There’s like a secret club of people who celebrate the magic of Christmas Eve Eve (yes two Eves, the eve of Christmas Eve!). Kelly is one of those people, and it was on this favorite day of hers that Matt surprised her with a proposal at their home in Solon before their annual holiday party! Kelly and Matt’s relationship began as a friendship, when they started going to the same gym together. They slowly realized that they both saw something more in each other than just a friendship, and that friendship slowly but surely turned to love. During their engagement session, I asked Kelly to share a few of the qualities she most loves about Matt. She said that she loves how Matt challenges her intellectually and spiritually, and that just stood out to me because WOW! What a quality to find in someone you are committing to spending your life with! These two compliment each other in such obvious ways, and I love how easy-going and laid back they both are. And they truly are! Kelly and I had laid out a tentative plan for our evening together, but we all kinda ended up scratching it and rolling with Plan B because we were having too much fun!
I met up with them at Stone Mad Pub for drinks on the patio and to get to know each other before we began our session! Kelly and I had only spoke on the phone before this, so I was SO excited to finally meet her and Matt in person and hear all about their wedding plans for this October! More than that though, I loved hearing these two share their story and their life and their families and careers and all the other things that are always so much more important than what color shoes or flavor of wedding cake they’re choosing. We were having so much fun I think we could have just hung out on the patio for the evening and said forget the photos! Haha!! As we were realizing how quickly the time was passing and that we might not have time for the locations we were originally planning for, Kelly said they were up for anything and we could just wander and have some fun! YESSS!! Literally the best words anyone can tell me! Some people might get freaked out by not having an exact plan in mind for their session, but I love nothing more than when clients trust me! I swear that creativity shines the brightest when there’s less of a plan! So we wandered our way down towards the direction of Lake Erie, and wait til you see the little gems we found along the way! So many awesome spots! A colorful mural wall, a wall of ivy that was literally in the middle of a parking log, and our grand finale was the walking path at Edgewater State Park with the Cleveland skyline!
THANK YOU Kelly and Matt for trusting me and more importantly, HAVING FUN! I loved hearing you guys share your stories and be silly with each other and also be a little more vulnerable and share your heart too. I had the best time with you guys, and I am looking forward to bluegrass music and mac ‘n’ cheese at your barn wedding this fall!!!
Baked brie!!! This was as delicious as it looks!
I see that sparkler on your hand Kelly! Wowza!
Loved this spot!! Until a big ol truck backed into the parking space and ruined our fun.
Kelly’s laugh is just the best!
What a view! The Cleveland skyline!
They are like models. Killin’ me.
