I always love the chance to meet and work with other photographers in the Youngstown area!  We truly have such a community of talented photographers here in Northeast Ohio, and you don’t find that everywhere.  I know so many amazing wedding photographers, senior photographers, family photographers, sports photographers, and still life photographers!  You’ve probably heard me mention this group before, but there is a national group called the Rising Tide Society with local chapters around the world that meet once a month to discuss a business-related topic.  This group is for any creative entrepreneur who believes in the mindset of Community Over Competition!  Creating friendships with other like-minded business owners in the creative industry is so valuable and has brought so much joy to my life!

Anyways, having the chance to photograph headshots for other creative professionals is maybe one of my favorite elements of being a photographer!  When you are the one behind the camera, it can be hard to switch roles and find yourself in front of someone else’s lens.  BUT, it is also so so so important to have professional headshots that represent your business well!  When Keri contacted me about doing a portrait session this spring, she sounded like every photographer in this boat – hesitant and a little nervous!  And I totally get it, haha!  We began planning our session, and Keri mentioned that she and her family love spending time by the water.  Well Ohio is not exactly close to the ocean, but we do have some options within driving distance that make it feel like you’re on a little getaway to the water!  Keri and I drove out to Lake Milton last week on one of the first warm spring days we’ve had this year, and did some exploring!  We found a fun little nature trail by the beach that we walked around before heading over to the beach area.  Poor Keri, the spring soil is still pretty muddy and soggy, but this girl was willing to go wherever necessary if it meant an awesome shot!  She may have been standing in mud a time or two!!  Like I always say though, it’s always worth it for the photo!!  And the mud paid off Keri!
