San Diego by Sea | Our Travel Adventures

Thirteen weeks ago we packed up the car and drove from Ohio to California to call San Diego “home” for a while.  In some ways it feels as though we’ve been here for much longer, and it’s funny how quickly an unfamiliar place can feel like the new normal.  There was a lot to adjust to (merging onto crazy highways at rush hour without hyperventilating), and it still feels like a victory every time I can drive downtown without using my GPS!  Ben and I have explored every inch of this wonderful city and all it’s glorious beaches, and this week we got to see things from a different perspective!  We went on a whale and dolphin watching cruise on the Pacific, and what an experience it was!  The cruise gave us a tour of the harbor and then ventured out into the ocean until land was out of sight.  I was so excited at the idea of seeing dolphins out in the water, but I tried not to get my hopes up in case we didn’t see any.  Well I didn’t have to worry about that, because we saw SO MANY dolphins!!  They were jumping and playing and they even came up next to our ship and swam alongside us!  I think they were showing off a little :)  We even lucked out and saw a whale too!  These guys are a bit more elusive than the dolphins, but he surfaced a handful of times for us.  So amazing to see such a majestic and massive creature up close.

Whether it’s by land or by sea, our time in San Diego has been wonderful.  Enjoy some different views from the ocean, and soak in all that sunshine and salty water.  I don’t know about you, but I’m going to miss California!  On to new adventures though, and new places to discover.  Happy Monday!

The famous Coronado bridge is a beautiful structure, we got to float UNDER it instead of driving over.

So getting a photo of a whale is harder than you’d think.  But that blob on the surface here is him!  You can kinda see the water blowing out of his blowhole!
