Cities are fun, but sometimes you just need to retreat to the mountains.  Lucky for us, the mountains are easily accessible from San Diego!  Never in a million years would I have guessed that just an hour beyond the hustle and bustle of San Diego sits the sleepy little town of Julian, a historic mining town just brimming with charm.  Julian invites you to slow down and breathe deeply as you explore the antique shops and boutiques and sit down for an obligatory piece of apple pie.  A town that flourished on the discovery of gold and the harvesting of apple trees, Julian proudly embraces it’s historical roots and is eager to share them with those who come to visit.  Our getaway to Julian felt like a journey back in time!  Such a refreshing visit away from the city lights and constant traffic of San Diego, if you’re in Southern California then you need to make sure Julian is on your list of places to go!  Enjoy some of my favorite images from Julian!

I loved this little shop!  Vintage clothing, handmade soaps and potpourri, and everything in between.

We were surprised to see this bunch of turkeys as we drove up the mountains – who knew turkeys were in California!  I sure didn’t!
