If you aren’t a photographer yourself, there’s a good chance that you might not be familiar with what a “Shoot & Share” photographer is.  The Shoot & Share network is a global community of photographers that focuses on our clients and how we can best serve them.  Photographers who choose to serve their clients in the best way possible, who encourage building “community” within our field instead of cultivating “competition” with each other.  It is such an encouragement to be a part of a group of like-minded photographers who approach their business in the same manner, focusing on our clients above all else!  I know not all photographers out there would agree with or understand this community approach, but I absolutely love being a part of this group and being inspired with new ways I can better serve my clients!

 

Each year Shoot & Share has a photo contest that photographers worldwide are invited to participate in.  I knew the contest was coming up but was a bit wary about entering anything this year.  I’m glad I changed my mind at the last minute though, because I am so HONORED and excited to share with you that one of my images was awarded 14th place in it’s category!!  I entered one of my favorite images from Sarah and Joey’s wedding at the Butler Institute of American Art into the “Details: All Dressed Up” wedding category.  Well imagine my surprise when I received an email last week that out of  2,801 photos entered in this category, mine was in the Top 100!!!  I couldn’t believe it!!  I continued receiving emails that my entry was still in the running, and today I learned that it placed 14th overall!!  Literally bouncing up and down in my seat as I am typing this!

 

The Shoot & Share Photo Contest had such an incredible turnout this year that they put together a new website to feature all of this new inspiration!  You can click on this link to read the back story of my entry, and you can even see a video of me talking about how I created this shot!  I am still pinching myself that this actually happened, I feel so encouraged and thankful for such a positive response to one of my favorite images, and I am so thankful I can share this with the photography community out there!  It is such a blessing to be a part of the Shoot & Share community, and to be a part of something bigger than myself.  Thank you to Sarah and Joey for letting me capture your beautiful wedding day, and to all my clients out there who entrust me with their greatest memories!!  Doing so never gets old, and I hope I get to continue serving you for, well, FOREVER!
