Baby Savannah

Sometimes, life brings overwhelmingly joyous things our way.  And other times, life throws you the kind of sad things that knock the wind out of you.  And occasionally, the two cross paths and enter your life at the same time.  Heather’s baby girl Savannah was born a month ago, and her parents traveled from Ohio to Texas where she and her husband live to meet their new granddaughter.  When Heather hugged her dad goodbye, she didn’t know it was the last time she would see him.  The greatest man she ever knew passed away unexpectedly just a few short days after arriving home from their visit, and his time with Heather and her new baby girl felt that much sweeter and special.  Heather contacted me about a portrait session for Savannah during her time back in Ohio, and she told me about her story and how she wanted these photos to be a tribute to her father, while capturing the sweet newness of her daughter.  We incorporated some of Heather’s dad’s most prized possessions, and add in beautiful Savannah and I think we’ve got some special memories that Heather and her family will cherish as they celebrate the incredible life of her father and the new life of her daughter :)  Take a look…

Heather also wanted to capture her daughter with her childhood horse Keta.  Savannah’s a little young to ride her yet, but give her a few years and she’ll be riding Keta just like her mama did!
