October – Think Pink!

Most everyone these days knows someone in their life who has been affected by breast cancer.  A very unfortunate fact, but it is true.  In my own family, my Aunt Lori, Aunt Lulu, and Gramma are courageous survivors.  Incredible examples of strength and beauty with a knack for meeting challenges with grace and a sense of humor.  October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which means it’s time to Think Pink and help raise as much support and awareness for breast cancer as possible!

Here are some links with ways you can gain information about Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as well as companies that donate proceeds to breast cancer research:

Also please take the time to see the work of photographer Angelo Merendino titled “The Battle We Didn’t Choose:  My Wife’s Fight With Breast Cancer.”  He documented his wife’s 4 year battle with breast cancer, and they are some of the most beautiful photographs I have ever seen.  The emotion you will find in every image and in every word of his story is overwhelming.  He is using his story to help others in incredible ways, it is worth it to look at his work.

    Hi Carlyn!
Don’t forget that the American Cancer Society is a wonderful resource for breast cancer! They have a program called Reach to Recovery where they link newly diagnosed patients to a survivor to help them along the journey. They also have a program called Look Good, Feel Better. It’s where a licensed cosmetologist comes in and teaches women how to deal with the physical side effects of cancer, like hair loss (including eyebrows). :)
